Year 6 Football Match Report28 February 2024 (by Catherine Passmore (catherine.hakner)) |
Last night saw our Y6 Football Team take part in the Second Round of the Humberside Schools U11 Knockout Cup.
We hosted Kirk Ella St Andrew's PS, who were an exceptionally strong, talented squad, passing the ball confidently throughout their team.
Unfortunately, we went behind after conceding a penalty in the initial minutes of the game. However, after 25 minutes, the score was still 1-0, with both teams having chances.
Chances continued in the second half but Kirkella were mostly on the front foot, with chances a minimum at the other end. Kirkella finally scored a second goal but Driffield held out, largely thanks to George Burton pulling off several saves in goal and Alfie Boak, battling in midfield, eventually losing 2-0.
I would like to thank all the boys, who put up a spirited performance against one of the best school sides around. Thanks also to Mr Wilkinson for a top display of refereeing.
Many thanks to Mark Goddard (Driffield Town Cricket & Recreation Club groundsman) for allowing us to play as all other areas of the East Riding seem to be under water!
Finally, thanks to the parental support - and Mr Todd, who helped me dismantle the goalposts!
Next week (Wednesday 6th March) sees us visit Stamford Bridge to play in the next games in the East Riding Schools League.
Regards
Mr Inns
